Welcome!

This blog was created specifically for students in Bristol Community College's Therapeutic Massage program. The goal of this blog is to introduce incoming students to the program and give information to help you thrive.

My name is Jessica Smith, LMT. I graduated from the Complementary Healthcare program in June of 2013. I've been a tutor and supplemental instructor (SI) at BCC since the Spring 2013 semester. I've tutored/SI'ed in nearly all of the massage courses, especially MAT111 (the Swedish massage course) and MAT120 (the deep tissue course). I currently run an open massage therapy lab in the clinic on Wednesdays from 10-2 for all current Therapeutic Massage students. It's the first open MAT lab ever in the program, and I'm thrilled to run it!

I started this blog because there's a lot of information I want to share with my students that I wish someone told me when I first started the program. I toyed with the idea of just writing a "Survival Guide" or making a web page, but I collaborated with the other instructors and they agreed that a blog would be the best idea, because I can always add or change information.

So please explore this blog to the fullest extent! I'm including all the helpful information I can think of to benefit you guys, the STUDENTS! I hope your time at BCC is enjoyable, and I hope I can ease some of the stress you're bound to feel in a new environment.

That is, until you start getting massaged. Then you probably won't be so stressed anymore.

Peace!
~Jessica Smith LMT.
